MERMAID 3D MODEL
Mermaid Character Sheet:
I started to create my Statue in Maya. By this I had a good template of the Human Body.
I modelled the Hand and Head separately so I could focus on one part at the same time. But then I combined it all together in Maya and it came out good! Here is the finished version of my Mermaid Model but in Maya.
I then Put my statue into Zbrush and started to add more detail to her body. I added some long hair, a seashell bra and mermaid fins with scales. For the face, It was quite tricky to sculpt on because I had to re-mesh everything and so it lost its original detail. So I had to put back the detail by sculpting her face. I then added cracks in her mouth because I still wanted to keep to the theme of a broken Statue.
For her hair, I just masked the top part of her head and then extruded the masked selection and then using the Move brush I then started to pull down her hair. I then went into detail by doing the hair lines.
Here for the Bra, I masked the selected area which was her chest and I extruded to the specific amount. I then went into detail by using the Soft Clay brush and started to shape more of a cloth bra. I then smoothed the edges to make it look like a cloth.
For her stomach area, I started to define and shape a stomach by adding a belly button and give the illusion of a toned body. I then added more cracks so that it will still stick to the theme of a 'Statue'.
I then went into detail to her Fins by doing the same progress of masking the area and then extruding it and then using the Soft Clay build up brush I then started to build up these really nice scales.
For the Tail Fins, I just decided to keep it simple and and lines onto it and at the end of each fin I just started to add more cracks!
Here is the Finished Model.
In conclusion this was a tough project to design because I had to research tutorials on z brush so I have a good understanding of how to use the software. In the end it paid of and I understood it quite easily and as i slowly got to know the software I started to pick up new things inside Zbrush which was pretty cool and mostly I just experimented. Overall, I really liked this project and I am surprised my mermaid turned out well.
